Children’s Sailing Trust (CST) has announced that its Chief Executive Officer, Jakie Jewell, will be leaving the charity in the coming weeks to pursue new opportunities.
Reflecting on her five years leading the organisation, Jakie said:
“It has been an absolute privilege to lead an organisation whose purpose is to remove barriers and create opportunities for children and young people through sailing and watersports.
I am incredibly proud of what has been achieved during my five years as Chief Executive and Director. Together, we have delivered the Trevassack Lake development, rebuilt and strengthened the organisation following the challenges of the Covid pandemic, restored participation levels and continued to expand opportunities for children and young people, particularly those with additional needs.
Alongside this, we have strengthened governance and compliance, developed new fundraising and partnership opportunities, and built an incredibly talented and committed team whose passion, professionalism and dedication continue to make a real difference to the lives of those we support. I am equally proud of the progress made in developing CST Trading C.I.C., which has become an increasingly important part of the organisation’s long-term financial sustainability.
After five rewarding years, I feel this is the right time for me to move on to a new challenge. I do so with immense pride in everything we have achieved together and with every confidence that Children’s Sailing Trust will continue to build on these strong foundations, inspiring and supporting children and young people for many years to come.
I would like to thank our Trustees, staff, volunteers, supporters, partners and funders for their unwavering commitment to the Charity. It has been a privilege to work alongside so many dedicated people, and I wish everyone at Children’s Sailing Trust every success for the future.”

“Jakie will be greatly missed by everyone at the Trust. She has made an enormous contribution over the past five years through her dedication, vision and unwavering commitment to ensuring that young people of all abilities can benefit from access to the water. She has also been determined that every guest visiting Trevassack Lake enjoys an exceptional experience.
Her energy, resilience and determination have transformed Trevassack Lake into a thriving, high-quality facility, while successfully navigating the challenges of delivering our charitable activities both on the Helford River and at the Lake. This year, she also completed the London Marathon, raising significant funds for the Trust.
The impact of her work extends far beyond the organisation itself. The legacy she leaves can be seen in the programmes, partnerships and facilities developed under her leadership. We are extremely grateful for her dedication and wish her every success in the next stage of her career.”
As Children’s Sailing Trust celebrates its 30th anniversary, the charity is completing a planned strategic review across all areas of its operations to help ensure the continued sustainability and future growth of the Trust’s extensive charitable services.
Over the coming months, more will be shared about the leadership transition, as CST remains focused on delivering its charitable mission. In the meantime, CST continues to operate as usual, with the team remaining focused on supporting the local community, our long-established schools’ sailing programme, and the wider accessible watersports sector
